History

In 2009, Shakorie Davis founded Next Generation Construction with a small team of employees. Since then, the company has flourished into a highly prosperous business with multiple office locations in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio. Next Generation Construction takes great pride in serving the Midwest region and prioritizes the notion of partnership over the traditional client-contractor dynamic. Our relationships are founded on trust, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to each other's success.

NextGen's Timeline

2009

Next Generation Construction was founded with carpentry at its base.

2012

Next Generation Construction received its Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Certification in 2012. This designation recognizes the company as being owned, operated, and controlled by individuals from underrepresented racial or ethnic minority groups.

2013

Since 2013, Next Generation Construction has held the State of Ohio EDGE (Encouraging Diversity, Growth and Equity) Certification, recognizing our ongoing dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion in construction across Ohio.

2016

Next Generation Construction was awarded the Cuyahoga County Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Certification in 2016. This certification highlights our commitment to growth and success within the county while supporting the local economy.

2025

Next Generation Construction ranked No. 5 on Crain's Cleveland Business Fast 50 list, recognizing the fastest-growing privately held companies in Northeast Ohio. The recognition reflects the company's 912% five-year revenue growth, driven by a skilled workforce, strong partnerships, and a solid foundation.

2026

Next Generation Construction received the Preservation Achievement Award for its restoration of the University Circle Inc. Offices at Magnolia House. The project honored the building's historic architectural integrity while transforming it into a modern, functional space for the community.
